Role

The I & O Storage Engineer will work as part of a team with responsibility for support and maintenance of hardware and software based solutions that make up WorldPay's storage and backup infrastructure. Teams are based in London and Cambridge locations. The Storage Engineer will work closely with other platform, testing and application support teams to maintain pre-production and production support environments. The Storage Engineer will be expected to contribute to a 24x7 duty on call rota, plus participate in a 7am - 3pm, 11am - 7pm rota Monday to Friday to support our production systems. The Storage Engineer will work with our Design and Engineering, plus development project teams to help improve existing and deliver new application functionality making sure procedures, policies and best practices are kept up to date.

What Do You Need To Have?

You must have extensive experience in the support of Storage (SAN, NAS) and backup infrastructure in a live environment supporting a virtualised environment running both UNIX and Windows systems. The Storage Engineer will have experience in Fault diagnosis and resolution for Storage and backup issues, Strong analytical skills coupled with methodical approach to fault resolution. You must be able to demonstrate a track record in delivering work to schedule and specifications. Finance or payment industry and exposure to PCI-DSS would be preferable.

Accountabilities and Storage experience.

Design/develop and test small-medium technical changes with little or no supervision to ensure systems are reliable and fit for purpose

Create technical documentation related to a specific area in order to assist record keeping and share knowledge with others

Mentor more junior staff to help with their technical development and ensure quality outputs

Carry out investigations and analyses into relatively complex problems in order to provide solutions for the business

Liaise and develop relationships with internal and external parties to understand their requirements and develop a consistent approach

Develop, design and provide suggestions for improvement to technical platforms or working practices, producing a number of options for a problem/change and justifying recommendation for optimal solution in order to met business requirements

Deliver medium sized projects and review work of more junior staff on small scale projects to support technology initiatives and deliver to time and budget
