How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
The engineer will work as part of an Application Support team supporting the WPG & HCG. To provide professional support to the Worldpay Gateways (WPG & HCG) - eCommerce gateways within Worldpay allowing customers to process payments via their websites. The team will operate according to the defined and deployed global operating model, maximising consistency across the wider global group. This role requires the Senior engineer to work as part of an engineering team to seek resolution of production incidents as well as supporting the deployment of system changes to the production environment. The role includes working alongside the business stakeholders and helping to build a positive profile of the team that fully supports the Worldpay values. Provide development solutions to introduce application enhancements that drive both stability and/or automation
What will make you the ideal candidate?
Troubleshooting & investigation of production system issues of a 24-7 service where stability, reputation management & security are critical to the business’ ongoing success. Coordination and implementation of essential production maintenance tasks. Working alongside our Engineering colleagues to resolve complex issues ensuring any/all solutions fully meet operational requirements.
Regular reviews of the incident management queues. Mentoring and training of engineers as required. Define, develop and maintain documentation knowledgebase. Proactively identify improvements and enhancements to working practices. Assisting with audit data gathering, deployments to production environment, transition of new projects into live service Implement automation of manual tasks wherever possible, Implement suitable code fixes to resolve problems identified during incident analysis. Identify efficiency improvements in both processes & applications
Object oriented design development language – preferably Java
- Relational databases including experience of database design - preferably Oracle
- Operational Unix commands
- Understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
- Understanding of Client/Server topology
Track record in delivering work to schedule and specification
Degree level education (in related subject of computing, maths, science, engineering) or equivalent.
- Basic scripting commands
- High level knowledge of Networks & Firewalls
- Source code control - preferably GIT
- Experience of card processing security
Experience of Internet applications and/or the finance industry
- Experience of file I/O programming, especially with regards to extremely large files
- Shell scripting, preferably bash
- Apache / Tomcat
- Knowledge and experience of the Spring Framework
