Senior DevOps Engineer
Senior DevOps Engineer
Why is our DevOps Core Engineering Team the next step for you?
Worldpay is continuing to invest heavily in its Engineering capabilities with agile development teams spread across the UK, Romania, America and India. We drive continual improvement (kaizen) and are always looking to remove waste, risk or inefficiency from the entire SDLC so that our teams can reach their full potential. Key to this is our adoption of the DevOps mind-set across all stakeholders – not just the development teams!
In order to realise this strategy, Worldpay runs a centralised team that provides the core DevOps capabilities required by the organisation (the DOCET team). The team designs, builds, tests, releases and supports our CI/CD pipeline which is used by engineering teams to build and deploy production applications to on- and off-premise environments including public clouds (AWS). Containers are a vital part of this architecture.
Most important of all – we believe that DevOps is a culture, not a team. As such members of the team are expected to evangelise our DevOps capabilities; helping other teams help themselves and always looking to empower stakeholders through self-service tooling. Our vision is a lightning-fast distributed development capability, constantly delivering business value and sharing solutions for the benefit of all.
How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
In this role, you’ll build the future of Worldpay’s delivery pipeline. You’ll work alongside other talented engineers to determine how best to meet the requirements of the business, and then turning that into a reliable, scalable and supported pipeline used by agile development teams across different business areas and geographical locations.
As a senior member of the team, we’ll want you to engage with stakeholders, provide technical leadership both within the team and to development teams starting on the DevOps journey, and you’ll take ownership for one or more of the tools that the team supports. You’ll have accountability for design, product evaluation, selection and implementation of associated technologies, and produce appropriate documentation, presentations, demos, etc. for both enterprise level sign-off of the pipeline and to evangelise the DevOps capabilities across the organisation.
What will make you the ideal candidate?
You’ll have experience building DevOps tooling and services for agile development teams, including driving adoption within an organisation. You’ll have experience with Infrastructure as Code, a track record of designing systems for High Availability, Scalability and Disaster Recovery, as well as experience supporting live services. You’ll have a collaborative approach and excellent stakeholder management and problem solving skills.
We are looking for you to have experience building CI/CD pipelines using some of the following tools; Atlassian Jira/Confluence, Git/Gerrit, GitHub, Nexus, Ansible, Jenkins. You’ll have experience with Runbook Automation, Scripting, building and administrating Linux servers, and with release processes for software applications; e.g. Maven, Groovy, etc. Experience using Cloud services such as Amazon Web Service (AWS) or Microsoft Azure are ideal, as well as an understanding of container platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker or OpenShift.
