Firstly, what on earth is a FD&M team? Well, we process payments for hundreds of thousands of businesses large and small. This means people like you and me get to buy goods and services just like magic. For things to work seamlessly there are rules – often complex – about how payments are managed and processed. The Payment Card Industry (PCI) has a range of standards that are set collectively by companies such as Visa, Mastercard and Amex (who are known as Card Schemes). Without the amazing work our FD&M team do to make sure we follow Card Scheme rules to the letter, there’d no chip-and-pin, no tapping contactless and no click and collect.  

What will I be doing on a day to day basis? 

As part of the FD&M team you’ll have the snazzy job title of – drum roll – Payment Data Security Consultant. When, like us, you manage 42% of UK transactions, that’s a lot of customer data that need protecting. One of the team’s core missions therefore is to increase internal and external awareness of payment security. Your role will be key to their success. You will manage and support external customers and internal stakeholders to make sure both understand and adhere to Card Scheme mandates. 

You’ll provide face-to-face and over-the-phone consultation to customers who need help with compliance relating to payment data security. As your knowledge of the PCI standards increases you can expect to get involved in ad-hoc strategic projects, further broadening your internal network and knowledge of the business.

What will make me right for the role?

You will be a smart, outgoing and customer-focused professional who’s motivated by solving problems. You will be analytical in nature (with good Excel skills) and be confident working independently. You’ll be dealing with regulation, compliance and technical data security so your attention to detail must be impeccable. 

Previous experience of the payments industry, particularly Card Scheme rules, will be beneficial but is by no means essential.  You are likely to have at least 2 years professional experience and be targeting a move into a more technical area where you can develop niche knowledge.
