Site Reliability Engineer

Why is our Online Payments team the next step for you?

The team builds and supports Worldpay’s online proposition for small and medium sized businesses. The SME solution has been built using Java, Spring, PHP & Angular. We’re also keen users of Node.JS, Scala and Ruby. It’s a modern API and the infrastructure has been built in AWS with an obsession for security and automation using AWS tooling in addition to Puppet and Ansible.

We’re passionate about high-quality software and fast delivery; at a sustainable pace!

How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will own the detailed investigation of issues and the implementation of application fixes. You will monitor actual quality of service metrics on reliability, performance, security, operability, efficiency and capacity. We will want you to provide on-call support and be a point of escalation to other teams, as well as automate operational tasks as appropriate. You’ll work with software engineering, cloud operations, product and support to ensure we collectively meet our ambitious quality of service goals.

What will make you the ideal candidate?

You’ll demonstrate deep experience of technical support on a high availability service and a track record of writing clean code in Java. We want you to write code in a test driven manner, have deep understanding of RESTful services and strong experience working in agile DevOps environments.

How is Worldpay changing the world?

On a typical day, we process 36 million mobile, online and in-store transactions – that’s about 415 each and every second. In 2015 we handled c.13.1bn transactions, supporting c.400,000 customers, 126 currencies, 146 countries and over 300 payment methods. We are the leader in payments in the UK, where we process approximately 42% of all transactions. As a leader in global fintech and the largest London IPO since 2011, this is a great time to join us in building for the next phase of the Worldpay journey.
