How will you add value on a day to day basis?

As the Release Management function sits within Worldpay’s New Acquiring Platform programme, you will need to be able to own the Release Management lifecycle within the Programme, which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases for multiple application and infrastructure changes. You will be exposed to working on a broad range of releases; these can be anything from application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades, etc.

The key candidate will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for the progression of code in the development, test, and production environments by using the ITIL framework. The Release Manager Job function works collaboratively with all participants in software development projects and is supportive of developers and testers as they set up their build Dev/Test environments. This position also works with IT management to improve the software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and environments and contribute in defining, developing and the maintenance of the release management environment.

You will assist in managing projects and interdependencies to ensure milestone adherence, as well as being accountable for release management best practices, engaging with upstream and downstream divisions to educate and advise. It is key that you have the ability to forward plan the release windows and cycles across the platform. As well as being able to identify / manage risks and have the capability to resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality. You will work with various functions to ensure releases are deployed to production environment with minimum disruption to the business, this can be from creating schedule of events detailing implementation plans or  back out strategy for releases; ensuring they are fully implementation tested ahead of Production usage. You will be required to assist/ support in the design and configuration of Continuous Integration/ Deployment/ Delivery system through collaboration with DevOps tools Team - Ultimately automating deployments for the New Platform programme.


What will make you the ideal candidate?


You will preferably have previous release and/or project management experience 2-6 years, with a strong knowledge of software development lifecycle. You will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion. You will need to be able to exhibit effective leadership and analytical skills, as well as using the ITIL principles around release and deployment management with 8-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment, with the knowledge of using the following databases: Oracle,PL/SQL (basics), familiarity with relational database management systems (RDBMS), object oriented database management systems (OODBMS), with the use of additional tools such as: Jira, Conflueance


As the key candidate It is important you hold excellent communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and offer IT solutions to internal and external stakeholders and support non-technical customers, explain complex IT concepts in simple concise manner, as well as being able to convey release detail, status, risks and schedule to all stakeholders. It is key that you demonstrate a ‘can do’ positive attitude and approach, with a genuine enthusiasm for excellence in design couples with an appropriate level of delivery pragmatism. It is important to hold a positive, strong and robust work ethic, taking pride in professionalism, responsibility and highly proactive approach to activity and a keen understanding of Issues.
