Our finance function in Manchester provides essential finance reports that enable our business lines to run in a controlled, precise and accurate manner. You will need to draw upon your sound accounting knowledge to deliver this role. Gaining a detailed insight to the workings of several business lines your opinion and recommendations will be heard by significant business partners with whom you engage.
The role of WorldPay Financial Accounting team is principally responsible for closing the books each month supported by underlying reconciliations and control, producing monthly management information, providing business partnering support for our Business Units including Business Support Centre (BSC), producing the statutory accounts for 39 legal entities across the group and continuous process improvements and support for Finance led project initiatives.
How will you add value on a day to day basis?
The Assistant Financial Controller, Capex will assist the Group Technology Engineering (GTE) Financial Controller in the finalisation of monthly financial reporting. You will provide financial analysis, control and support to the business on GTE Opex and Capex.
This role will work closely with the GTE Financial Controller and ensure the timeliness and accuracy of month end close actuals minimising late adjustment whilst advising stakeholders and senior management of potential issues. You will ensure that actuals/ forecast are properly reconciled; the differences understood and develop a controls framework around these capitalisation processes.
You will also take responsibility for the understanding of, and accounting for Construction in progress (CIP) reviewing and challenging reconciliation processes and overseeing capex reporting. This role is also responsible for the preparation and ownership of fixed asset reporting, providing Capex reporting and reviewing of balance sheet reconciliations to tight reporting timetables.
As an Assistant Financial Controller, you will manage and develop a team of 4 colleagues who are at various stages of their accounting qualification. You will also develop enhanced monthly Management information, working with the BU and Financial Operations leadership team to develop suitable metrics.
Lastly, a key part of this role involves becoming a BSC Oracle Projects and Microsoft projects champion, providing training, improving configuration and driving improvements to reporting functionality to improve financial control of capex reporting.
What will make you the ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate must be a fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with proven experience in fixed asset reporting. You will have proven experience of financial analysis and reporting and working with Oracle projects. You must have worked in an environment with complex systems and large volumes of data.
This role requires you to demonstrate experience of identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. You will also have experience of managing a team and be able to demonstrate excellent stakeholder skills.
