This role sits as part of our DevOps Core Engineering and Tools (DOCET) team in London. You will be part of empowering application development and IT operations teams to continuously improve the business outcomes through collaboration, automation and seamless integration across the enterprise. As part of the team, you will get involved with all stages of the DevOps Engineering Life Cycle (concept, define, design, build, test, release, maintain and retire) with the opportunity to drill down into specific technical areas and move to other functional areas.
How will you add value on a day-to-day basis?
As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery and support of key capabilities and tools. You will be responsible for the DevOps Engineering lifecycle from requirements, solution design, product selection to implementation, as well as ensuring the features and functionalities of the product meet the requirements, design specifications and engineering practices.
You will be a real advocate of the DevOps movement and help us in our quest to become nimble at scale. You will play a key part in the development of our DOCET services and be responsible for solution design, development, testing and release management. You will be responsible for providing estimates within a project management framework and proactively define new solutions and detail design to increase value.
What will make you the ideal candidate?
You will have extensive DevOps engineering and tools experience, as well as solid understanding of DevOps and Middleware implementations. Previous experience in DevOps design, engineering, implementation and support from a financial services organisation is ideal, and you will have experience with many of the following: High Availability and Disaster Recovery, Capacity Planning and Backup, Cisco Networking (Switching / Routing), Windows and Linux Administration, Application, Systems and Network Troubleshooting, Systems and Network Monitoring, Runbook Automation and Scripting, Application Performance Monitoring and Root Cause Analysis, Software Development Lifecycle, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Container as a Service (CaaS), Amazon Web Service (AWS), User and Process Documentation, Unit, Performance and Integration Testing.
You will have experience with some of the following systems and tools installation, configuration and customisation:
• DevOps Tooling: Jira/ Confluence, Git/ Gerrit, GitHub, Nexus, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, AppDynamics, New Relic, ServiceNow, Splunk, OEM, BMC, Nagios, RPM, Samba, Yaml, VirtualBox, VMware vRealize, OpenStack, Docker, Rancher, Sysdig, etc.
• Operating System: RedHat Enterprise Linux 6/7 (RHEL), CentOS Linux, Cisco IOS, Solaris 10, Windows Server 2008/2012, Android and iOS
• Database: Oracle Database 11/12, MongoDB and MS SQL Server 12/14
• Middleware: Oracle WebLogic 10/11/12, Oracle Documaker and IBM WebSphere Messaging
• Hardware: HP servers, Cisco routers/ switches, Intel/ AMD processors, etc.
• Protocols: DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, ICMP, IMAP, IPSec, OpenVPN, POP3, RADIUS, RDP, SCP, SFTP, SMTP, SNMP, RESTful, SOAP, SSH, SSL, TCP/IP, Telnet, UDP, WPA2 EAP, etc.
You will have the ability to build strong relationships with business and technology stakeholders through open and honest dialogue. Knowledge of payment applications and services are ideal.
